SEI completed Granville Central School District’s approved referendum of an $18.6 million capital project for facilities upgrades. The project was designed around the EXCEL grant program to minimize the local tax impact. Work at the junior/senior high school included the addition of two “Project Lead the Way” technology classrooms and four special education classrooms, as well as an addition to provide physical security at the main entrance to the school. The cafeteria, choral classroom and administrative areas were renovated in conjunction with the new entrance addition, and ADA improvements were made throughout. Technology upgrades including Thin Client and wireless technologies were added at all district buildings.
Granville Elementary School had not been updated since it was constructed in the mid-1960’s. This building was completely renovated to a state-of-the-art 21st Century school. Upgrades included the addition of an elevator as federally mandated by the ADA, new band and choral rooms, nurse’s suite, main office, library, classroom upgrades and ADA toilets. Also included were physical security, secure entrances, and technology upgrades.
Mary J. Tanner Elementary School received physical security and secure entrances, technology upgrades, and acoustical upgrades in the cafeteria and gymnasium.
Granville CSD also tasked SEI Design Group with creating an inexpensive new Maintenance Storage Garage to replace an inadequate structure, accommodate lost garage space within the main building, and upgrade unsightly areas of the High School site. A new pre-engineered metal building structure was created to house offices and serve maintenance vehicle storage and repair functions.
