People Are the Latest Green Idea

Using human body heat to help heat a building is the latest in Green Technology. The Stockholm Central Station built in 1871 is the largest train station where 250,000 pass through each day. Instead of ventilating the generated body heat, it will be collected so it can warm water which will be piped into a new adjacent green office facility.

Urban Connections

Six Concepts were developed by the Urban Design Studio at Alfred State College in Partnership with the Rochester Regional Community Design Center to create plans for the revitalization of the historic Susan B. Anthony District in downtown Rochester. This group of students from Alfred included SEI Design Group’s Justin Cross! Under the direction of Professors Bill Dean and David Carli, they have assembled a variety of design solutions that will be on display at RRCDC. There is an opening reception at RRCDC in the Hungerford Building at 1115 East Main Street Door #4 on the evening of Friday, December 7 from 6 – 8:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Open Architecture Network

Open Architecture Network (beta version) was started by Architecture for Humanity this past week. In four days over 1500 people registered on the site.
The mission is "to generate design opportunities that will improve living standards for all". The new site is a result of a TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) prize.
